Ski Season Series

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset I thought it could be really helpful to do a tell all series about my experiences when I did my ski seasons, incase anybody out there is about to go off for this season or if you’re thinking about it for next year. I want to include everything I wished I knew before I went out there and then also what to expect the you get there.  I’m not going to name any names because I want to give you a real insight to the life of a seasonnaire, and I’m not going to leave out any of the juicy details. So for anyone wanting to know more about doing a ski season then this is for you.

I’ve decided to split some of the posts into different sections which will all be linked below, I will upload them asap:

I hope that these posts give you some insight into what doing a season is actually like and hopefully persuades some of you to go out there and experience it for yourself. I couldn’t recommend doing a season enough, it was honestly the best two years of my life, I made some amazing memories and some lifelong friends.

My Morning Routine

IMG_2972Every morning as soon as I’ve finished scrolling through Instagram, closing Instagram and then deciding to scroll through just one more time, i’ll head through to the bathroom and start my routine.

I always start with my teeth as it helps to wake me up and make me feel fresh and clean and then I move onto skincare…

Peachpuff Brush Stroke Photography Logo-3 In the mornings I will only cleanse my face once and I will always use my Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser. It is one of my all-time favourites and always leaves my skin feeling clean, soft and replenished.

When cleansing my face I will always apply a small amount of product to my Dry face and massage in, adding a little bit of water if it needs loosening. I will then wash off the product with a warm face cloth.

Do not soak your cloth in a full skink, you’ll just be washing your face with dirty water. Always use fresh running water to rinse your cloth

Peachpuff Brush Stroke Photography Logo-4 I am currently using the Mario Badescu Glycolic acid Toner, as I wanted to try something new after using the Pixi glow tonic for so long. I really like how this toner makes my skin feel after I’ve used it, however, its nothing compared to the glow of the Pixi toner. Glycolic acid is great for exfoliating, and treating acne and blackheads.

I will apply this to a cotton pad and wipe across my still damp face, trying to lock as much moisture in as possible. My skin always feels so fresh after applying a toner.

Peachpuff Brush Stroke Photography Logo-5 Now I’m not going to lie to you, I’m really struggling on the serum/ face oil front.  I can’t seem to find a budget-friendly oil that I want to shout off the rooftops about. I do love the Elizabeth Arden Miracle Oil if my skin is feeling really dry and dehydrated, and I will sometimes use the Nip and Fab dragons blood serum.  Now that we are coming into the Autumn/Winter seasons I really need to step this up and find one that I really love.

Peachpuff Brush Stroke Photography Logo-6……And last but certainly not least, we have moisturizer. My all time ride or die moisturizer is the Clinique dramatically different.  I have been using this since I was about thirteen years old when I first started my skin care regime and I have never looked back. It is lightweight, soft, creamy and absorbs into the skin beautifully and it will take an amazing superhero product to ever make me stray from the Clinique path.

…..So there you have it that’s my current skin care routine.  I don’t really play around with my skincare as once I’ve found something that works for me I will usually stick with it. I am incredibly lucky that I have always had really good skin and never had any major problems I have noticed that as I have gotten older my skin has changed slightly. I used to have very dry skin and now I have more of a combination skin. I have started using acids on my skin now I’m older and have found that they really help balance my skin out by reducing oil build up in certain areas but also not drying out my face. Gentle acids should not be something you are afraid of as they are so helpful in your skincare routine.

If anyone has any products that they are loving at the minute, please comment them down below and I would love to give them a try.

Life After Uni

Blue and Yellow Humorous Greeting Graduation Twitter Post

So you’ve finished uni and suddenly don’t know what to do with yourself. Well first things first, you are not alone so please do not worry or feel isolated because you are not the only person to go through this stage.

Seriously you’re not, I can guarantee that most people finish uni and don’t have a clue what to do next, there are too many options and so many different directions to go down that it can seem very overwhelming. I call this stage the “grieving” period  because you’re an actual real life adult now and education which has been a staple in your life from such an early age  is over and you’re mourning the life that you had before. Suddenly those school days where your only care in the world was what you were going to have for lunch, or which friend to sit next to in French seem like a lifetime ago and you find yourself wishing you were back there.

My mum didn’t understand when I told her that I was feeling a bit lost after I graduated, I  didn’t have a clue what my next step was or what direction I wanted to take. She said “Em you’ve got the whole world out there, you can do anything you want, go wherever you like, you’re in control of your own life”.  Yeah that’s amazing and I am  incredibly lucky to have these opportunities but I just didn’t  know what to do with them. Having the world at my fingertips scared me and suddenly I realised how much I actually had to learn.

Before I went to uni I had a clear account of how I wanted my life to look like. I was going to finish uni, getting amazing corporate job and work my way up the ladder and earn lots and lots of money. It wasn’t until half way through my second year I realised that life just wasn’t for me anymore. I’m not the money driven person I thought I was and the thought of  working for the rest of my life sounded like my own personal hell. So then I was stuck because for the first time in my life I didn’t have a plan or a next step, and I didn’t know how to feel about it. Luckily for me I decided to do a ski season straight after uni to delay the inevitable (I will do another post on that later) and It worked for a while but like every good thing it came to an end and I was right back to where I started.

No-one can prepare you for that feeling of loneliness or the self-doubt that fills you with dread. You are allowed to feel like this, it’s completely normal I promise you that it does get better. I don’t understand how at the age of 18 you’re supposed to choose what you want to do for the rest of your life and then again at 21 be trusted out into the big wide world and suddenly have all the answers. At 24 I still don’t know the answers but I have had a chance to experience a lot of different job roles to find out exactly what I like and what I don’t. It’s not until you start job searching that you realise that there are so many jobs out there that you didn’t know existed, and you may even find some of them really interesting. I believe that our twenties are for exploring, both the world and ourselves, we need to take time to find out what we really like and whats out there for us. When I graduated uni I didn’t know half the stuff I know now and it’s because I’ve taken the time to go out and learn more and experience new things. I am incredibly lucky to have such a supportive family who are backing me everywhere I go and I always have a home to come back to at the end of the day.I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and all your experiences make you stronger and help to mould you into the person you are today. Stay positive and don’t get overwhelmed by how much there is out there. Just take a breath and keep moving forward.

If I could give anyone in this position advice it would be to make the most of being young and free of responsibilities, take the opportunity to go traveling, or do a winter/summer season or two. This is the perfect time to do all these things, to have fun and make memories, because you’ve got a lifetime to get a job and work and you might not get the chance to do this again.

You won’t regret it, just think about all the stories you’ll be able to tell your grandchildren!!

Blue and Yellow Humorous Greeting Graduation Twitter Post-2.png

Hello and welcome

Hello! welcome to my open space.

I don’t really have a clue what I’m doing, blogging has always been an interest of mine, but I never really know how to start. So today I’ve taken the plunge and I have started my blog.

Beauty is something that has been a passion of mine for a number of years now, it’s not just makeup, it is all things beauty that I love. I love makeup and I love skin care (I have a very strict regime) but I also love the science behind it and learning how different ingredients can help different skin problems and issues.

I don’t want to just focus on makeup and beauty because that’s not all I’m interested in, this blog is going to be a space for me to voice my opinions, write about my life experiences and hopefully help young people who are looking for answers to their questions. I mean I’m not saying I have all the answers but I’ve definitely got a lot of experience and knowledge to share.

Thanks for reading….
